The Service of Compline

The form of the service for Compline that we use at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver comes from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer and finds its origins in the liturgies used by St. Benedict. This ancient monastic service is the last of the seven daily offices before those in religious orders retire for the night. Texts of the psalms, canticles and hymns remind us of the nearness of God in darkness and sleeping as well as in waking and light. The music and prayers invite us all into a holiness of life.
