Trustees
There are five trustees (six when you include Dean Peter Elliott) who are also members of Parish Council. Among the five trustees are two wardens who serve for a two year term — a Rector’s Warden who is selected by the rector and a People’s Warden who is elected at Vestry.
Along with the clergy and treasurer, the trustees make up the “Board of Directors” of the Cathedral. They are ultimately responsible for decisions regarding the financial and business life of the church.

WARDENS & TRUSTEES REPORT 2010
As your wardens at Christ Church Cathedral it is a pleasure and privilege to meet with other Trustees and Staff on your behalf to ensure the smooth running of our Cathedral Community. Please catch us at coffee hour or leave a note in our boxes in the office if you would like us to address a concern or pass on a comment in the meetings. Our hope is to support your voice in decision-making within the Cathedral Community.
As stewards of our Cathedral Community we all have a role to understand the financial and spiritual challenges we face. We can truly celebrate the generous response of our members to these challenges, e.g. retiring our debt and continuing to deepen our faith through education and service. It is through gratitude for the riches we experience at the Cathedral that we all strive to enliven our motto “Open Doors, Open Minds, Open Hearts.” Including the phrase “Open Arms” will, we believe, express our committment to service.
We particularily express our sincere appreciation and support for the creativity, integrity and leadership of our wonderful staff and clergy

PARISH COUNCIL REPORT 2010
The Parish Council consists of the clergy of Christ Church Cathedral and 19 elected lay members of the congregation. In 2010 the co-chairs were Tom Callen and Lindsay Sutton. It met monthly (except in summer), and served as a focus group to consider new ideas and approaches for the Cathedral’s ministry.
Reports considered in 2010 included the task force on “The City, It’s Future, And the Role of the Church,” the coffee hour revision, Buildings and Grounds Committee, and the Pride Parade service and breakfast. Council heard from David McMillan and Joan Seidl on their experience with community engagement, particularly Joan’s at the Vancouver Museum. It participated in a B.C. Securities Commission Workshop on scams to which churches may be vulnerable. Treasurer Blair Wilson made a presentation at each meeting and responded to questions that arose about church finances.
Highlights included the role many parishioners took in the ‘Sanctuary, Peace and Prayer’ Olympic events; work on the Parish Ministry Plan and strong affirmation of the new proposed motto Open Doors, Open Minds, Open Hearts and Open Arms; and various presentations from staff and volunteers.
Parish Council unanimously moved a vote of thanks to Hilda Gregory for her outstanding work as our Parish Volunteer Coordinator. This was accompanied by wishes of good luck for Holly McMillan who is taking over the position.
