A programme of chamber music by Haydn and his followers – including two of Haydn’s “London” Trios, Beethoven’s Serenade Op. 25, a Tercettino by Boccherini, and a Flute Quartet by Mozart.

Building bridges between the past and the present, Italian viol virtuoso Paolo Pandolfo has gained world- wide acclaim for bringing spontaneous and immediate life to the performance of renaissance, baroque and contemporary music through improvisations, transcriptions and compositions.

Kassia (born 810), the chosen bride of Emperor Theophilos, pursued a different direction and founded a convent where she became abbess. The hymns she composed are a true revelation. They show her as a self- assured, highly-educated and exceptionally gifted woman at the centre of Byzantine intellectual and artistic life in the metropolis of Constantinople. Don’t miss the Canadian debut of this women’s vocal ensemble.

During the Middle Ages, Alexander the Great’s deeds – both real & legendary – inspired bardic poetry and song across the world, both East and West. The renowned Boston Camerata joins forces with the Turkish American ensemble Dünya for a programme that offers illustrations from his fabled history.

Early Music Vancouver offers student rush tickets for each concert (including events at the Chan Centre!) at a special rate of only $10. Rush seats are available only at the venue box office, one hour before the start of each performance, with valid student ID. Subject to availability.

Early Music Vancouver is pleased to offer a successful initiative for young people aged 7-17: they will receive free admission to any of the concerts of Early Music Vancouver, if they bring along a paying adult. (One child per attending adult qualifies for a free ticket.)

These free tickets are not available in advance through Ticketmaster, the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the Kay Meek Centre, or Sikora’s Classical Records; they may be obtained only through the office of Early Music Vancouver, or at the door on the evening of the concert.
